The common problem of Goldshell miners failing to appear on the Goldshell website will be resolved in thias post.
If you’ve plugged in your Goldshell miner, but see a blank screen when you go to find.goldshell.com, this article is for you.
We’ve run into this issue a lot after setting up countless Goldshell miners for both our own facility and others. We notice it can happen with all Goldshell models. It’s quite frustrating but we’ve discovered the most common fixes:
- Make sure miner is connected to correct ethernet port and the correct device
- If you are using a Switch, make sure you have set it up correctly.
- Don’t use a mesh wi-fi device.
- Your mine may actually be connected already: it is just not showing up on Goldshell’s website
Let’s get into the details for each issue:
Table of Contents
Common Issue #1: Wrong Device/Port
Your modem is is a box that connects your home to the wider Internet.
Your router is a box that lets you connect multiple devices to the internet at once, or connect wirelessly (WiFi). The router establishes a connection with the modem and spreads internet access. Make sure your miner is connected to the Instead of connecting to the modem, use the OUT port on your router.
Occasionally, a gateway, a single device that combines all of these, is used. If this is the case for your, make sure your miner is connected to the Port OUT on your gateway.
Common Issue #2: Incorrect Switch/Splitter Set-Up
A switch, also called a splitter is a device that lets you to connect multiple devices to the internet.
You might need a switch to start mining if there are no available Ethernet ports. For 5 ports, we advise the TP-Link TL-SG105, and for 8 ports, the TP-Link TL-SG108.
Any inexpensive cord on Amazon will work just fine if you need an ethernet cord. We have used many hundreds of cords, and we have discovered that it is not worthwhile to spend more money on an expensive cord.
People set up switches incorrectly all the time.
To set up your switch, think of it as an extension of your router.
This means:
- Plug the switch into the OUT port on your router
- Connect the switch to each miner.
Connect the Modem to the Router, the Router to the Switch, and then the Miner(s) to the Switch, in that order. Although it may seem straightforward, many times people are arranging these incorrectly without even realizing it.
Common Issue #3: Using Mesh Wi-Fi
Mesh WiFi refers to the use of multiple devices that communicate with one another, offering coverage for larger homes and buildings and multiple sources of WiFi signal.
If you are using mesh WiFi, make sure your miner is connected directly to the router, and not the other Mesh devices.

Common Issue #4: Goldshell’s Website Not Working
A miner may occasionally be successfully connected. The green light will be on and the mining will be hashing already – it just needs to connect to a pool. Goldshell’s find website hasn’t found it, which is the issue. If this is the case, you will have to find the miner IP on your own.
You will then manually enter the IP into your browser to access the miner interface.
Download Angry IP Scanner to check if your miner is actually connected.
Use the START button to launch a scan with Angry IP. After using Angry IP Scanner, a list of IPs will appear similar to this. A green dot indicates an active IP address that is responding to requests. Probably your miner(s) are this. The IP addresses in your browser can be used to test them. In the above example, if we navigate to the address with the green dot http://192.168.86.28/ (your IP will most likely be different), we see the mining interface:
We can tell the miner is operating properly because the interface shows the hashrate. All that is left to do is join a pool.
Summary
In summary, if you run into this issue, we recommend going through and diagnosing the following situations in order:
- Make sure the Ethernet port your miner is connected to is the correct one. Your router’s OUT port is where you should connect your miner.
- Make sure you have set up your Switch properly. Connect the switch to the router, and connect the miners to the switch.
- Check to make sure your miner is connected to the router and not a Mesh WiFi device.
- Check if the Goldshell website is not working, but your miners are working fine and all you have to do is find their IPs with Angry IP Scanner
